A Visit To Oregon

It has been a while since my last post. Having to do most of the things on my own at the moment, I admit that my time is very limited to put some updates right away. I do feel guilty seeing notifications of views on my page. Somehow, I just couldn’t drop by to write and post something. I should consider posting shorter updates more regularly than occasionally lengthy ones.

Wonderful things had happened within the gaps though and one of them was a two-week visit to Oregon. I had a free tour and owe a big ‘thank you’ to a couple friends who made it possible for me to visit those extraordinarily beautiful places. It was part of the dream come true since the last few months — those times when I needed to take a break and breathe on fresh air of nature. Oregon is the best place. The wild beauty of the green forest is exactly like the ones I picture in fairy-tale stories. Obviously, some of these areas have become favorite locations for filmmakers — among others the recent famous ‘Twilight’.  Standing there seemed to overflow my mind with ideas to write a fairy-inspired fiction.

The enchanting Japanese garden is just a perfect garden for me to take as examples — how I would like a backyard to be, in our family home in Sabah. The bamboos planted in such a way that is so creative and very well-organised remind me of our own Sabah bamboos. Somehow they just bring to me the sense of tranquillity and peace. I would like to have bamboo plants in my home. I picture how I want a corner of my apartment to be — simpler and tropical inspired.

The Journey

13 February 2013 - Wednesday -----15 February 2013 - Thursday

Left early morning to the airport, leaving Ivan who had to remain at home due to winter cold and flu added by the stress of letting me go on a 33 hour trip back to my homeland. Glad his mom was there to take care of him. It was a heartbreak but both of us agreed that I should take the road.

Arrived Singapore after long hours of flight plus a half an hour turbulence on the way somewhere up north of the world map - and finally managed to take a snap on this pretty Chinese New Year and Valentine floral arrangement at the airport.  Met some nice people to chat with while waiting another 5 hours before the next 2 hour flight to my homeland. Had mocha coffee and 2 slices of Kaya toasted bread just to get some coins. Made a few minutes call to Ivan. Then it was time to board.

Just a little devastated to find that my luggage wasn't there. I couldn't bear to lose the things I brought for different purposes. Again I just surrendered the moments ... gasping ... though a report had been made.

Que Sera Sera

Still stranded at the airport. We were again told as we were about to board that we had to shift to a different flight - which would only depart in the evening at 6:30.

Could only make call with 100 yen coins ...

Having Onigiri (Japanese Rice Ball) and hot chocolate

Ordered Teriyaki Chicken and Rice with a 1500 yen lunch coupon ...
in exchange of a canceled boarding pass for the afternoon :)

Waiting Gaps And A Night In Tokyo

After 3 hour flight from KK to KL and plus 6 hour journey to Tokyo, this is what I found; 0°C at Narita Airport at 7 o'clock in the morning. I was a little devastated, thinking will I be able to make it to LA tonight. Some flights had been canceled. It was supposed to be another 13 hours before the next flight and I was quite worried, but somehow managed to calm myself. I took time to read 'The Joy Of Full Surrender' and I guessed that was it ... que sera sera ...

As if it wasn't enough with the heavy snow in the morning, just as we had already seated in the plane, we were told to disembark due to some technical problems, which I think was a wiser thing to do on their part. Everything went pretty neat and fast in spite of some confusions among passengers. We were finally told that we could only proceed with the next day flight - and it was already midnight in Tokyo. They were kind enough to care for us by providing us with a nice accommodation plus breakfast coupon in one of the best hotels .

So, here I was, having the whole room for myself.

This is pretty neat ...

Spiritual Getaway

Spending my weekend after a tiring week babysitting and helping with the wedding at an isolated location ... somewhere in the forest of Tambunan ...
